FAQS TO MODULAR BUILDINGS

FAQs on HALTEC and our modular halls. Please contact us if you require any further information on HALTEC's modular halls. Your contact partner is waiting for your call!

Delivery & Assembly

What's the cheapest means of anchoring?

Ground pegs. The hall's supporting columns are secured using steel anchors hammered straight into the existing ground surface. You save yourself the costly business of digging foundations. When the hall is removed, this also guarantees that there is virtually no trace that it was ever there, which is especially appealing if renting the hall. For substrates that will not take pegs or dowel fixings, HALTEC BASIC offers anchoring-free alternatives such as ballasting.

How long does the installation take?

It depends on the size of the hall and the complexity of the equipment. With a standard hall measuring approx. 20 x 40 m, you should factor in an assembly time of 3-4 weeks.

Equipment & accessories

How is the floor connection designed?

HALTEC offers a variety of standard floor connections. Depending on the use and customer requirements, we can also customise your floor connections.

Is the floor slab included in the scope of delivery?

No. However, HALTEC has produced a number of different hall systems with energy-saving floor slabs in collaboration with a long-term and trusted partner company.

Does HALTEC provide heaters?

Yes! We offer mobile and stationary heating units, delivering the perfect room temperature. These heaters can be placed or mounted inside or outside the hall system.

Does HALTEC also offer lighting?

We are happy to provide exterior and interior lighting, with a variety of different options available. Our lighting is also available with energy-saving LED technology.

Does HALTEC provide an indoor crane?

Yes! HALTEC works in partnership with all leading crane manufacturers to provide the equipment you need.

Can you install a solar or photovoltaic system on the hall roof?

Yes! Using a special structural engineering technique on HALTEC's steel buildings, we can provide for these systems.

Financing

Is it also possible to rent steel buildings?

Yes! We usually offer rentals for periods of 12 months or more. This enables you to safeguard your liquidity and stay flexible both spatially and financially. Shorter rental periods are also possible at any time if required.

What additional and ancillary costs should I take into account when assembling a hall system?

In addition to the actual price of the hall, you should consider the following: plot, outdoor facilities, earthworks, flooring panelling, electricity/water/gas/telephone connections, fire protection and ground inspections, architectural services, test engineers, heating and lighting. We would be happy to provide pricing information based on experience.

Does HALTEC also offer used halls?

Yes! We have a selection of used BASIC and SELECT halls in stock, available for rent or purchase at affordable prices.

General questions

Do steel buildings have fixed grid dimensions?

BASIC steel buildings come in a standard 5-m grid. SELECT steel buildings are also available with variable dimensions depending on the structural requirements in addition to the 5-m standard grid.

What is the difference between the BASIC and SELECT range?

BASIC halls consist either of an aluminium or steel structure. HALTEC BASIC is based heavily on a standardised, economical modular system and offers exactly the flexibility that today's demands require. This ensures short delivery and installation times and creates more space for both temporary and permanent use. SELECT halls are modular, individually designed steel buildings. HALTEC SELECT represents individuality and choice. SELECT aims to meet your exact space requirements to give you more space, every time.

What is the difference between the Aluflex and Stahlflex range?

Aluflex halls consist of an aluminium structure with steel joints. They can be secured into foundations using dowel anchors, but are usually fixed with pegs nailed directly into the substrate. Aluflex halls are produced in an efficient modular design, meaning HALTEC can provide consistently high quality at reasonable prices.

Steelflex halls are steel structures using IPE steel beams, usually secured to foundations using dowels. All Steelflex halls can be anchored using pegs. HALTEC designs made-to-measure customised steel buildings. Because of the high number of identical parts with a Steelflex design, you are guaranteed high quality as well as reasonable prices. The high degree of prefabrication and sophisticated joints make our steel constructions a particularly economical solution.

Our Aluflex and Steelflex halls are available for rent or purchase.

How does HALTEC protect its products from corrosion?

HALTEC uses hot-dip galvanised steel parts. Galvanising offers extremely long-lasting corrosion protection, with protection typically lasting a number of decades. There is no need for maintenance work in this time; unlike with other corrosion protection systems like primers and paints. Crane girders in our SELECT hall range usually have a paint-based coating. If there are particular fire protection requirements with respect to the supporting structure, SELECT halls can be delivered with a special fire protection coating.

How many halls has HALTEC set up so far?

When it comes to gaining space with hall systems, HALTEC is the expert. As an experienced hall manufacturer with over 5,000 completed projects in over 50 countries, HALTEC has the skills required to determine and map your exact space requirements.

What's the difference between H-hall constructions and L-hall constructions when it comes to steel buildings?

H-hall constructions are a more simple solution for small to mid-sized halls. The main profiles are made from IPE-steel beams with purlins and wall framework made of hollow profiles mounted between the main frame. The H-hall construction maximises the usable space inside the hall — giving you as much added space as possible. With the high degree of standardised components, delivery and installation times are very short.

Choose the L-hall construction for large, complex halls with higher load requirements. The main profiles are made from IPE-steel beams with purlins and wall framework made of lightweight profiles fixed to the outside of the main frame.

Statics & Planning permission

Can HALTEC help me obtain planning permission?

SELECT halls are usually subject to planning permission, with an application submitted by the client's architect. However, HALTEC is happy to provide this service. As well as an official statics calculation, HALTEC will provide the hall drawings. These documents are examined by a structural test engineer before the planning application is submitted. HALTEC will also give you detailed advice in your dealings with planning officers.

Do these structures need foundations?

With permission from your local planning office, HALTEC halls can be assembled using pegs instead of foundations.
