Pentagonal production hall construction with a flat roof: coffee manufacturer Oetterli, with headquarters in the Swiss canton of Solothurn, now has so much more space thanks to the new HALTEC hall. All departments – ranging from management, through production up to warehousing and shipping – have been cleverly brought together under one roof. The custom-made hall comes as a pentagonal flat roof construction. This is not just a modern hall design – it was a specific requirement. Haltec adapted the production hall exactly to the property lines, as required by the building authority. This was a major challenge for the production hall construction, but the individual HALTEC SELECT halls made it easy! And best of all, additional photovoltaic modules can be installed on the modern flat roof for in-house power generation.

"The processes are much easier," said Managing Director Bernhard Mollet. Thanks to the new production hall construction, the divisions interlock perfectly, with each workflow being carefully considered during construction – from the delivery of goods and storage of the green coffee, through the roasting plant and production, to shipping and on-site sales in the factory shop.
The different air conditioning requirements were also taken into account during the construction of the production hall. The green coffee is best stored at cool temperatures. Separation of the areas by means of partition walls and a high-speed gate ensures a constantly cool room temperature, without having to make any compromises in other areas of the building. This means that sales and office rooms can be kept at a comfortable temperature, with no impact on the storage area.

What is particularly striking about this building is the large canopy in the entrance area. It serves a very specific purpose: to ensure that when goods are delivered to Oetterli, they are protected from the weather remain undamaged. It also makes sure that customers visiting the factory shop can arrive at the building safely. The delivery area is additionally equipped with an electric industrial sectional gate that can either be opened fully or can only be passed through using an integrated wicket door.

Even during the planning phase of the production hall construction, Managing Director Mollet made it clear that a punctual execution and a fixed budget were paramount to the project. And he was not disappointed: HALTEC's excellent value for money was clear and impressed across the board.

Details of the equipment in the production building construction:

Chilled green coffee storage

Production hall storage area

In the production hall construction, the green coffee is stored at cool temperatures. The different climate zones are separated by partition walls made up of sandwich panels.

High-speed gate curtain

Connecting corridor with high-speed gate

A high-speed gate guards the passage from the cool green coffee warehouse to the far warmer roasting plant. This saves energy, optimises the flow of traffic and improves the indoor climate.

Central production area

Inside the hall of the coffee roasting plant

The roasting plant gives the green coffee beans their special aroma before they are transported to the packing department.

Functional hall division

Goods dispatch in the production hall construction

In the packing department, the coffee is portioned into bags and prepared for dispatch in cardboard boxes. The vans wait for the next delivery in front of the industrial sectional gate.

Secure entrance and delivery zones

Delivery in the HALTEC production hall

A large canopy protects the entrance area for goods delivery. When deliveries arrive at Oetterli, they need be protected from the weather and undamaged.

Industrial sectional gate

Industrial sectional gate in the HALTEC hall

Incoming and outgoing goods are processed via the electric industrial sectional gate with window sections, integrated wicket door and high-speed drive. The latter is of real benefit in winter, as it reduces heat loss.

Integrated factory shop

Retail space inside the hall

For delicious coffee at home: the entrance area of the production hall construction houses a small factory shop.

Window with external shutters

Window with external shutters

All windows are fitted with external electric shutters. They let plenty of natural light into the hall whilst protecting against visibility from the outside and preventing overheating and glare.
