Frequently asked questions

Here we have listed several questions for you which our customers often ask. By clicking on a question, you will receive the answer.

What is a system hall?

System halls are halls built in the system design. As a result, it is possible to use several identical parts even with extremely varying span widths and so to reduce both prices and delivery times dramatically - while maintaining the same high quality standard. However, the term "system hall" does not mean that you have to dispense with individuality or special equipment. We can build your system hall exactly according to your wishes.

What materials are used for the roof and walls?

In the case of non-insulated halls, the roof and walls consist of single-layer, belt-galvanized and paint-coated trapezoidal sheets. Upon request, we can also offer you a roof with tarpaulin covering made of high-quality, robust and extremely resistant fabric which is coated in PVC and flame-retardant. An interior tarpaulin can be inserted from eave to eave in order to improve insulation and avoid condensation. Insulated wall and roof panels are used for insulated halls.

Which colours are available for the roof and walls?

Trapezoidal sheets and sandwich panels are available in several colours from the RAL colour range. It is visually attractive to use coloured frames for doors and gates or coloured gutters in contrast to light hall panelling. We do not make an additional charge for coloured edge parts in standard colours.

Can I make the hall larger or smaller at a later date?

The modular system allows you to adapt to your current needs at any time. If your company expands and you want to enlarge your hall at a later date, that is no problem. We can add further hall sections to increase the length or a second or third hall bay to increase the width. If you can envisage your expansion needs even before the first construction phase is assembled, we will immediately implement the appropriate gable frame as a full supporting frame including the necessary bores and holders.

Do I need a particular foundation?

It is often possible to dispense with a foundation. After consulting the building authorities, we can assemble the HALTEC hall on asphalt or paved surfaces. In this way, you can save expensive foundations.

Which type of foundation is necessary?

We can dowel the Steelflex hall to a pointed or continuous foundation. Alternatively, you can arrange for a reinforced ground plate (surrounded with an anti-frost apron) to be produced, on which we will then secure your hall. As a rule, we need an even concrete surface. The introduction of tie rods while building the concrete plate is necessary for particular load requirements only. For these system halls, you will receive from us the precise dimensions for your foundations and the loads incurred by the hall. A local building contractor can easily use this information to produce your foundations. Upon request, we can also provide a complete foundation static with reinforcement plans.

Which alternatives are available for the ground trim?

When the hall is founded on a continuous foundation or a concrete ground plate, the facade can be set up either flush with or down "past" the foundation. We can deliver an additional Z-profile as a drip panel. In the case of a hall founded on asphalt, we can seal the hall to the subsoil with L-shaped brackets and a sealing band, or additionally with a welding sheet. We shall be glad to send you foundation details on request.

How does the building permit process work?

With no problems at all in the case of HALTEC halls. Our system halls with standard dimensions possess a static certified by the TÜV (German Technical Inspection Agency). Usually, the building authorities accept this static without any further checks. So you are able to save both time and money as early as the planning and permit phase. Upon request, we can also submit the building application for you.

How long is the delivery time?

For our standard halls, the delivery time is approx. six weeks from the time of your authorisation. As we produce the halls in our own factories, we can reduce this period by two to three weeks in particularly urgent cases. In the case of crane and flat-roof halls, a delivery time of approx. eight weeks must be anticipated.

How long does the assembly last?

For hall sizes up to 1.000 m², the assembly lasts one to three weeks on average. Large halls with a surface area of over 1,000 m² may require more time.

For which snow load are the halls designed?

We have a static for a snow load of up to 125 kg/m² for the standard halls. We are also glad to provide halls with greater snow-load capacities upon request.

To top

For which wind load are the halls designed?

Our halls are designed for a speed pressure of 0.65 kN/m2. That corresponds to wind-load zone 2 according to the new German DIN standard. That covers most locations in Germany. Of course, our halls can also be calculated individually to cater for greater wind loads. You can consult your relevant building authority to find out which wind-load zone your location belongs to.

Are smoke vents (RWA) also available as preventive fire protection?

Naturally, we are also your ideal partner for smoke and heat control systems (RWF)! We use smoke vent devices which open automatically in the case of a fire and ensure the immediate extraction of smoke fumes and heat. This restricts the source of the fire, escape routes remain accessible and it is easier to extinguish the fire. The electrical openers in the smoke and heat exhaust venting system have the additional advantage that they support the ventilation of the hall in summer. You can choose between individual domelights with integrated smoke vents or a continuous row of windows in the ridge which can be fitted with automatic smoke vents. In addition, rows of windows in the roof can also be considered as a "meltdown surface". We shall be glad to advise you on the most cost-effective integral solution for you.

Does HALTEC also include interior lighting with the delivery?

We are always glad to provide interior lighting which is cost-effective both in terms of its acquisition and its assembly. In general, we use high-quality suspended projectors for halls or longitudinal field lamps.

To top

Does HALTEC also deliver the required hall crane?

We cooperate with various crane manufacturers and can provide your steel hall with the ideal crane.

To top

Is it possible to install doors, gates or windows at a later date?

Yes! It is only necessary to produce a steel subconstruction, to open up the facade and then to fit the insert with the suitable edge parts into the facade.

To top

Are special hall dimensions possible?

Yes! We design your hall and its span width, length and height to suit your own wishes exactly, down to the last centimetre. For instance, we could deliver your hall with a width of 19.78 m and a length of 48.70 m.

To top

Can I extend an already existing building?

Yes! We can connect the Steelflex hall to your existing facility using edge parts or intermediate gutters. The hall facade can then be omitted on the side with the existing wall. It should be clarified beforehand with the building authorities whether the extension will be accepted in light of the necessary escape routes and fire regulations. Depending on the height difference in relation to the existing building, snow drifts may lead to stronger strains on the new hall (if the existing building is higher) or on the old hall (if the new hall is higher).
